Frequently-Asked Questions
What is a preached or directed weekend retreat?
A preached or directed weekend retreat is a silent retreat led by Jesuits, shaped by Scripture and the Ignatian tradition. Through guided reflections, prayer, and time for quiet, retreatants are invited to step away from daily demands and listen more attentively to God over the course of the weekend.
What does the weekend schedule look like?
Weekend retreats typically begin on Friday evening with check-in and an opening session, followed by a rhythm of silence, prayer, and reflection. The weekend includes guided talks or spiritual direction (depending on the retreat), daily Mass, opportunities for confession, shared meals, and time for rest. The retreat concludes after lunch on Sunday.
How much does a weekend retreat cost, and what if cost is a concern?
A deposit is required to reserve your place and is applied toward the total cost of the retreat, with the remaining balance due on or before arrival. Specific costs are listed on each retreat page. If you feel called to attend but are unable to cover the full cost, please know that you are very welcome — financial concerns should not keep someone from making a retreat, and partial offerings are received with gratitude.
What are the accommodations and meals like?
Retreatants stay in private rooms that are simple, clean, and comfortable, designed to support rest and quiet. The retreat house offers natural wood and stone spaces, a peaceful atmosphere, and accessible facilities for those who use wheelchairs or walkers. Meals are prepared with care using fresh, wholesome ingredients, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner served daily, and coffee and light snacks available throughout the day. Dietary needs and food allergies can be accommodated.
What should I bring for a weekend retreat?
Bring comfortable, casual clothing suitable for quiet indoor time and outdoor walks, along with layers for changing mountain temperatures. Many retreatants also bring a journal, Bible, and a book for spiritual reading. Bed linens, towels, and soap are provided, and the retreat house library and bookstore are available for your use.
